On Tuesday, we decided to take a day off to visit Macau, a city just one hour by ferry away from Hong Kong.

Macau is very different from the busy city life of Hong Kong. Its calmer, more open and still retains its Portuguese influence. Of course it is also the Las Vegas of Asia. I tried a bit of luck at the slot machines but really wanted to do a little sight seeing.

I like Macau as a break once in a while, the air is cleaner and the streets are less crowded. One hour away is like a trip from San Jose to San Francisco in the Bay Area.
